Institute Description:
The Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh, established in 1991, was granted provisional affiliation for the MBBS course by the Panjab University. The College  along with the Panjab University and the the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, it has an Engineering College, College of Arts, College of Architecture, a number of Government and Private Degree Colleges and other prestigious and important research institutions. The College gives greatest priority to quality and so admissions to the College is strictly on merit on the basis of Combined Entrance Test conducted by the Panjab University. This is the reason of this College's students getting admissions to postgraduate courses at PGI, Chandigarh, AIIMS, New Delhi and through the All India PG Entrance Examination and also performing consistently well at interviews conducted by the UPSC, Armed Forces Medical Services and various state Public Service Commissions.

The College has been recognized for the award of MBBS degree by Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The students, after completing their courses, can procure satisfying placements across the country.
